Make money by shopping at stores you love using Ebates

Is cash back through Ebates real? Yes! So you’re telling me that Ebates gives you cash back simply by shopping online at stores that you already shop at? Yes! Is it easy to use? Is it free? Are there really tons of stores that I already shop at and love? Yes, yes, and yes!

Anyone that knows me knows that I love Ebates. They also know that I love things that are simple, easy and convenient. I am busy like everyone else. I work full time hours serving my marketing clients, building multiple streams of income, running two businesses with my husband, raising two amazing daughters, and dreaming of early retirement on a beach with a passionate purpose and mission of giving back some good to this amazing world. Dreams are good, but back to Ebates 😉

My love of online shopping came after having foot surgery in December 2010. It was winter time where snow and ice were a daily staple and Christmas was sneaking up on me. I was in pain and on crutches for nearly a month. It was difficult to walk, drive, and do most anything that involved leaving the house. Online shopping was a saving grace for me that year. The world was literally at my fingertips, and with one click whatever I bought showed up at my doorstep in a box nearly ready to wrap. That is $40.95 back for a rug that I was going to order from Overstock.com anyways. I also needed to book a hotel room for upcoming travel, so I went to Priceline and booked an Express hotel deal (love Priceline by the way and will have to write a separate post on how to score the best deals) saving 56% off the regular price and getting 12% cash back through Ebates! I booked a 3-star hotel room for $75.97 plus (thanks Priceline) and will get $9.12 back from Ebates.

Today, simply by shopping good deals online like I normally would have, I will score $50.07 back. THIS is why I love Ebates and THIS is why I had to write this post so that you can experience the same opportunity to save!

Now this is not a gimmick to tell you to spend tons of money online so that you’ll get it all back. This is a real way to save a solid amount of money on things you already plan to purchase. 12% and 14% cash back aren’t always the norm, but they certainly were today and I will get a check for over $50 because of it! Cash back percent ranges anywhere from 1% to 15% and sometimes on special holidays even more. “Big Fat Check” amounts vary, but need to be greater than $5.00 to be mailed or deposited into your PayPal account.

The key to using Ebates to get the most cash back is to remember to use it. This is pretty easy by installing the cash-back button on your favorite browser or by using the mobile app. When you install the cash-back button and you head to your favorite online store to shop, it will ask if you want to activate your cash back shopping trip. Once you click “activate” it does all the rest for you! With the mobile app, you just need to start there first, enter in the name of the online store that you want to go to, click “shop” and it will take care of the rest! When I said simple, I wasn’t kidding.

The best part is that nearly every store (that I shop at) is on Ebates; it’s pretty remarkable. Even Ebay, Amazon, Groupon, and Etsy can be found on Ebates and offer cash back. Lots of stores run double cash back deals or increased cash back on holidays for some really amazing savings.

The worst part of Ebates is being patient. I am such a nerd about saving that I love to see my savings amount immediately. If you can hold your horses and be patient while the world of transactions and processing take place, you’ll be just fine. It takes a few days for the cash back amounts to show up in your Ebates account since they work to get information from all their partner stores. For things like travel, it can take a few months after you complete your travel for it to show up in your Ebates account. Then, once it shows up in your Ebates account, you’ll need to have at least $5.00 or more for them to issue a “Big Fat Check”. Checks are issued every three months. The really fun part of this is getting a check in the mail when you are least expecting it!

Use your Ebates check as another tool to pay down debt, to save money, or as a reward. It’s really a win-win-win situation.
